The first few days have been extremely eventful. The kids have been exploring the mountain and getting to know Andy and the park.

The spring conditions have made way for some late winter storms. The last few days have seen a foot of snow fall.

The conditions have been great for the crew to work on their general riding skills, and also introduce some new ideas for riding the park.

It going to be a busy Easter weekend… and birthday for April tomorrow.

It began with a two hour delay in Sydney, then that set the tone for the remainder of the trip. But after traveling for 20 odd hours, plus a whole bunch of delays, April, Ryan, Jess and Matt all arrived tired, but in one piece at Denver International airport.

Just a cruisy 2 hour drive to go.

We might go easy on them for their first day tomorrow… although it is going to be sunny and 15°C!

Tim and Jarrod are currently in transit, on their way back for Spring Breck! For a little fun in the sun.
With a few of the boys searching for their doubles, I advise you stay tuned to the blog, as the next few weeks are going to get hectic!

Nick, Tim, Michaela and Jarrod said their goodbyes and left the house at 2pm for the hour and a half drive to the airport. Our flight was a 6:30… plenty of time.

3 hours later, we were still 30 miles from the airport sitting is the heaviest traffic the world has ever seen! for real. There was a few stressed heads in the car. Mostly Jarrod’s.

Some how we made our flight with 5 minuets to spare. Just good timing really… and as a bonus, the flight landed 15mins earlier in Calgary. Now we had over an hour until our car was to pick us up.

One hour latter, we were still standing in the immigration line with a few hundred passengers.

This was just not our day.

Finally we got through, then spent another half hour trying to find a mini van the hotel had sent us.

11:30, and we’re finally hear. The Open training begins tomorrow so stay tuned for a report on the park.

It was the last morning of riding for a few of the crew. Breck was perfect one more time for Leons, Will, Iver, Lawrence and Ben.

It was a short, but very sweet trip.

On Saturday it was the second local event of the National Gatorade Series which is the qualifier for the main event at the Dew tour. With a full field and a huge waitlist all our kids were lucky to scrape in and get a ride.  With reasonable results at the last event in Vail this was going to be a tougher stop. Lots of kids from the Rev Tours were signed up with everyone chasing the free flights to the Dew Tour Finals in Vermont.

Chris Decampo rode the best on the day from our team, landing his  run to finish 3rd overall. This was also enough for Chris to get an invite to the finals in Vermont, although returning to school this week for year 12 and a photo shoot in Japan he had to turn down the offer.

In the womens the Aussie girls dominated, up against some strong US girls who were all linking spin combinations, Michaela  ended up on the podium coming in 2nd with Lauren Staveley in 3rd. Michaela definitly put the best jumps riding down on the day and was just short of first by some really technical rail riding from the US girl. Lauren cruised to 3rd with some clean straight airs and a 360.

In the juniors Daniel Klein podiumed again with a 2nd place, congrats to DK, overall a great bunch of riding from all the TSC team up against some strong US riders, gaining valuable competition experience.

Upcoming events are  the Canadian Open in Canada and the USASA at Winter Park and the Rev Tour at Copper.

We had bad luck from the moment we landed at the airport. The rental car people told us they were all out of cars. Finally when we found a car, our GPS lead us half way to Canada because it wasn’t mapping properly. We eventually worked it out and got there albeit over a few hours later.

First day of training we arrived on the course to find two nicely built jumps and a jib line of 3 rails with two different options. The course was riding well and every one was putting their comp runs together nicely.  Everyone was super happy… until Iver, unfortunately decided to stay out for an extra run just before lunch and crashed heavily on his head.

Unfortunately for Iver, this would result in a minor head, neck and lung injury that would put him in an ambulance and at the local hospital 45 minutes away. This disappointingly put him out of the competition and off riding for a few days.

On comp day the weather was challenging and the speed kept changing. It was hard to link the right speed between all the features. Michaela was up first and landed some new tech rail tricks she has been working on which would give her the 3rd highest rail score for the day, unfortunately she came unstuck on her back 3”s by overshooting which she has on lock and did not make it through to the finals but finished 8th.

Tim was up next and  was also struggling with his speed on his stock  B720, unfortunately he didn’t put his run of back to back 720′s down first try so we had to switch his run from b720 to a b360 to Fs 720. He landed this cleanly but was disappointed not to land his first run of back to back 720′s to add his 9 in on the second. Tim finished a respectable 30th out of 70 riders.

Nick was up last and was on fire in training, recovering from his shoulder injury and carrying an niggling ongoing shin injury he was pushing through the pain and landing his back to back 720s and 9′s but unfortunately in his judged runs he over shoot both of his fs7 on the first feature which would also put him out of any finals contention and now needing at least a week off snow.

Besides all the niggling injuries training is going smoothly at home every one is now focussing on the Gatorade event at Keystone this Saturday.

Congratulations to Lauren Staveley who made finals in slopestyle and came 8th in the halfpipe.
